Also called the Scarlet Speedster, The Flash has superhuman speed and reflexes and violates certain laws of physics, being able to exceed the speed of light. Until then, four characters gained super speed in different ways and assumed the identity of Flash: Jay Garrick (1940-1956), Barry Allen (1956-1986, 2008-present), Wally West (1986-2006, 2007-present) and Bart Allen (2006-2007).
Barry Allen is considered the first superhero of the Silver Age of Comics and has remained one of the most popular ever since. Each version of the Flash was a key member of either the Justice Society of America or the Justice League, DC's main groups.
